STRANGE DAYS Helm Publishing ISBN: 0-9760919-9-2 Trade Paperback 332 pages $12.95 Shirley Johnson, Midwest Book Review says, “I want to tell you right-up front that
if you are looking for a true horror read you simply must pick up this book.
Talk about a creepy, hair-raising, chill bumping read this is the one, and
something you should expect and receive in this genre. Believe me, you will
not be disappointed. Barry Hunter, Baryon Magazine says,
“Edna Gear is alone and about to have her baby when a storm comes up. With
it comes an ancient evil that is seeking a three-dimensional body to be
reborn and the baby is the choice for this incarnation.
Weston Ochse, Bram Stoker award winning author of SCARECROW GODS and APPALACHIAN GALAPAGOS says, "Wiehe's punchy prose pounds us with dementia, mis-adventure and enough multi-dimensional mayhem to KO Quinten Tarantino and leave him smiling as he hits the floor."
Jonathan Maberry, Bram Stoker award-winning author of Ghost Road Blues says, “Strange Days by Fred Wiehe is one of those wonderfully strange, mind-twisting stories that never goes where you expect it to go, and always delivers shocks and thrills. This puppy begs for film or graphic novel adaptation.”
Nicholas Grabowsky, author of THE EVERBORN and HALLOWEEN IV says, "Out of body experience makes for an intriguing plot device in Fred Wiehe's latest contribution to the world of horror/suspense, the latest in a succession of novel-length works from The Burning to the most recent Starkville. Louis Gear is a monster; more precisely, is inhabited by a monster. An ancient and diabolical evil dwells in Gear that has flitted from human body to body and life to life throughout centuries past, each existence devoted to destructive mayhem fueled by relentless addiction to violent abandon, rape and murder. Frank Talbort's wife is yet another victim in Gear's killing spree, but when Frank comes home from a busy day at the advertising agency he finds himself face to face with Gear and his wife's mangled body. In a frenzied confrontation, Frank kills Gear, but the ancient creature within Gear yanks Frank's spirit from his body and then takes that body over, resuming his killing spree as Frank. In the meantime, Frank's spirit, eager to stop the creature for good, enters the body of a coma-stricken police officer--another of the creature's victims. After this shift in identities, it's cat and mouse from then on out. Frankly (pardon the pun), Wiehe, at the start, does need the kind of poetic fluidity that it takes to draw the average reader into the story at the get-go, that gut-busting rawness that makes the reader know that you have a guttural roar while a picture is being painted before the bulk of the story is told, but the thing is ... when you don't expect it, you get caught up in the whole thing, right about the time when Gear has Frank's wife. When Frank's spirit is catapulted from his body, one cannot help but truly take an interest, and then the tale pulls you in, deeper and deeper, and it gets better and better. All in all, after you read it, it leaves you thinking and going back in your mind to the events you've just read about, just as a good read should. Strange Days is a novel, ultimately, that does its job, A NOVEL OF AGELESS EVIL TOLD WITH WICKED ABANDON AND STYLISH PROSE. FRED WIEHE HAS ESTABLISHED HIMSELF AS AN IMPORTANT VOICE IN A NEW AGE OF HORROR FICTION. As he grows in his craft, I'm certain we'll be watching. And reading."
Garry Charles, Author of HEAVEN'S FALLING, Volume 1, ASCENSION "My kind of nasty!"
Nickolaus A. Pacione, Renegade Horror Writer "Fred Wiehe knows what he wants with horror, and the imagination is of an author that doesn't exactly fit with the current trend. If he was alive in the 1930's he would find great company with the likes of H.P. Lovecraft and Algernon Blackwood."
Holli Burlew, Port Charlotte, FL "I received my book on Thursday
afternoon. I could not wait to read it.. I waited until my children went to bed
to begin. I was up almost all night reading. I could not put it down. Even when
I had to stop reading because I was so tired I kept looking at it and saying
"one more chapter" that's all I wanted but my eyes could not stay open. This is
by far the best book I have ever read. I finished it this afternoon, the day
after receiving it. The story was amazing, it literally scared me at times. The
horror was excellent. The writing was that of greatness. Fred Wiehe is the best
in my books. I cannot wait to read the next one."
Scott Grueninger , Loveland, Ohio "Wiehe has outdone himself with Strange Days. The pages could not turn quickly enough for me. Bizarre is probably the single best word I can use to describe the story. The author manages to capture evil, suspense, and drama all in the same well-spun tale. So, grab a copy of Strange Days and curl up on the couch for a good read. Just a warning though -- you may want to leave the lights on."
James A. Feld, Avid Reader & Amateur Author "Fred Wiehe has created a masterpiece of horror in his latest novel "Strange Days." From the first page to the shocking last page he takes you on an unstoppable journey of death and Unthinkable Terror. If you like Horror you will love "Strange Days."
Suzanne Brenner, Fan in California "Strange Days is the creepiest, scariest book I've ever read. It raised the hackles on the back of my neck. Read this one with all the lights on ... not just a reading lamp ... and forget a book light ... that's definitely not enough. You won't be able to put this book down so prepare for an all-nighter." THE BURNING
"This book [The Burning] is a compelling, page-turning read, with a wounded heroine, mythical beings, and some very quirky characters in a small seaside town ... a book I couldn't put down." --Rosemary Laurey, OHIOana Quarterly "The Burning contains plenty of suspense and plot twists!" --Lisa Hurley, Tracy's Book Reviews "THE BURNING is a must read! 5Stars. The Burning is the third of Fred Wiehe's books that I have read. All three have been excellent. Be prepared for some twists and a few surprises with this story. I highly recommend it." --Scott Grueninger, Ohio, 3/11/02 "The Burning had an interesting character and used mythology to create an innovative fantasy, something different from the usual dancing elves and Tolkien clones (not that I have anything against Tolkien--I'm just tired of bad imitations). This novel is fresh and new, an enjoyable read. 5Stars." --James Arthur Anderson, Miami, FL, 6/20/2003 Click

NIGHT SONGS
"This book [Night Songs] captivated me, leaving me with scenes that still linger to this day. Mr. Wiehe has moved his art of writing forward and graduates to the top of the class." --Ken Mason, Simegen Reviews "This [ Night Songs] is an EXCELLENT book. Full of excitement and humor, you can't help but read on to find out what will happen next. Mr. Wiehe has shown great aptitude for leading his readers astray with plot tricks and twists, then springing the real plot on them like a starving werewolf." --Lisa Hurly, Tracy's Book reviews "An intriguing book that combines cops and the occult. Wiehe includes some interesting Gypsy lore." --Kate Templeton Fox, OHIOana Quarterly "This book has everything: vampires, werewolves, gypsies, gypsy lore, cops, and drug pushers. It's as funny as it is scary. And it takes place in one of my favorite places--Big Sur (although next time I'm there I'll be on the lookout for a gypsy encampment and steer clear). I had to read this one with all the lights on! 5 Stars." --Suzanne Brenner, San Jose, CA "Night Songs is awesome. Reading about the partnership between Alfie and Tommy was cool. These two guys are very funny and strong. Some very scary situations in this one. Some scary situations I would not like to find myself in. I'd probably lose my mind, not knowing what to do. This is a killer novel." Jamie Nightwalker

STARKVILLE
"This [Starkville] is an excellent book. Mr. Wiehe has done a fabulous job! The characters suck you into their world, and you can't stop yourself from turning the page to find out what happens next. Both well written, and edited, Starkville will wrest emotion after emotion from you. It is obvious Mr. Wiehe researched his subject matter well, and although you get the pleasure of reading some wonderful Chinese tales, everything is plainly understandable. There is nothing confusing about this book. This is one of the best horror/sci-fi books I've read in a long time, and I think it would make an excellent addition to anyone's collection." --Lisa Hurly, Tracy's Book Reviews "This story will send chills down your spine! Order pizza for dinner before you begin reading because you will not be able to stop reading this book until the last page has been read, and good luck sleeping afterward! Excellent horror novel and well worth your time!" --Detra Fitch, Huntress Reviews "Fred Wiehe has written a fast-paced, non-stop story that will draw you in and keep you hooked." --Ken Mason, Simegen Reviews "Reading this book was like a rollercoaster ride for me--exciting and full of twists and turns. I cared deeply for the characters. I wanted no harm to come to them. However, harm did come, and I cried. I didn't want this one to end!" --Suzanne Brenner, San Jose, CA
